You’re probably familiar with seeing images of the Earth from space that seem two-dimensional with respect to how flat the earth’s surface appears. I thought that this photo was unique when I viewed it, because it’s possible to actually see the height of the Earth’s atmosphere from an angle. This image was taken from Discovery during the STS-96 mission in 1999. Click here for the high-resolution, full size version.
